About BI for Intune¶
BI for Intune is a Power BI template app that connects directly to your Intune environment via the Microsoft Graph API. No agents on endpoints, no vendor portal — your data stays in your Power BI workspace, governed by your Microsoft 365 tenant policies.
Pre-built dashboards cover device health, compliance, discovered applications, Windows Update for Business, and custom inventory collection. Drill through from fleet-level summaries to individual devices, track OS versions, hardware models, encryption status, and Autopilot enrollment — all with automatic refresh on your schedule.
Extend your reporting with optional add-ons covered under Advanced Configuration: a Log Analytics integration to populate the Windows Update for Business Reports dashboards, and PowerShell-based Custom Inventory to collect device facts Microsoft does not surface through Graph (BitLocker, local admins, monitors, USB devices, warranty, and more).
How the docs are organized¶
- Install Guide — required for every customer. Install the app from the Microsoft Marketplace, create your Entra app registration, and configure your semantic model. Once the Setup Guide is done, you have a working set of dashboards.
- Advanced Configuration — optional. Connecting Log Analytics or deploying Custom Inventory unlocks additional dashboards (WUfB Reports, BitLocker, monitors, USB devices, and more). The product works fine without these — dashboards that depend on them will simply show no data until you set them up.
- Admin Guide — administration and troubleshooting: backing up custom reports, performing upgrades, managing workspaces, customizing templates, migrating between API versions, and resolving common issues.
- User Guide — training materials for the people in your organization who use the reports day to day. Dashboard navigation, drill-throughs, exporting, and interactive walkthroughs.
- What's New — release notes for every version, so you know exactly what changed before upgrading.
